Down North St with maggots and hemp tried to feed the fish out from under the trees but could not get through the dace and minnows, not even a chub to show for my efforts.
Sun, tried again in the afternoon, still could not get through the dace so tried the point and had a couple of 4lb chub!
B/H Decided to try the dog leg, and at last had a fish, calling it 7, but actually weighed 6lb 13&3/4 once, one bite one fish and the temps started to drop in the afternoon some light showers and the wind got up.
Well we had some rain river is up at least a foot on Saturday morning, but looks fantastic, bit of weed coming down with all the extra water, but that should drop off, not many around this weekend, I tried North street for a couple of hours on Friday night and did not have a touch, thought conditions were perfect but no bites!!
Saturday was quiet again couple of guys at the top of North Street and Dave down bottom of Woodgreen couple of chub showed but that was about all.
Sunday, I decided to go for the dace on North street the way they should be caught, long trotting with light lines, met John up at the wier he was not having much look so talked him into coming down with me. John took one swim I had tried with maggot feeder and I took the other, John was into fish from the first cast, I had to work for mine, both of us had lots of fish with quite a few dace that needed netting, last trot down brought me a chub of 5.04 lovely fish on light tackle, think I may try this again.
Dave had a couple more barbell this week including a very nice 9.10 from down on Wood green. There were a few members around with a few guests.
The barbell shoal I mentioned in the last update is still there, one of the guys saw them and tried for them, but they are certainly not feeding in that spot, another guy went in after and had not better luck.
Plenty of chub around some nice fish coming out, I tried for the afternoon on North street had a chub, but not much else on the Saturday, went back for Sunday afternoon with maggots and could not get through the dace, nice big fat dace but not really they way to catch dace on a feeder with heavy line.
River looks beautiful, the level is dropping slightly but nothing drastic, big hatch of Mayfly on both afternoon/evenings, not a big rise but some fish showed.
